Anton C. Bizzell, MD is a physician entrepreneur and President & Chief Executive Officer of Bizzell Global Ventures, Inc., a strategy management and consulting firm that delivers data-driven, research-informed, innovative solutions to the world’s most complex health, economic, security, and sustainability challenges. Dr. Bizzell also serves as the Chairman of the Bizzell family of companies including Bizzell US, Inc., and Bizzell International, as well as Board Chair of Bizzell Foundation.

Dr. Bizzell is an engaging and sought-after speaker on a broad range of current issues facing the American public such as health care disparities, access, quality, behavioral health and substance use disorders prevention, treatment, and recovery. While serving as a Fellow for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation (2018-2019), Dr. Bizzell toured cities across the U.S. and engaged in conversations with state and local chambers to share innovative employer and business solutions and community partnerships in the battle against the opioid epidemic. He is a small business development leader and mentor, and an expert on community engagement and integration in lasting change.

As a contributing author in Psychology Today, Dr. Bizzell shares his extensive insights in his monthly column “Mind Your Health”. The timely, impactful column promotes behavioral health and improving outcomes, with a special emphasis on public health issues like equal access to quality healthcare and mental health wellness amongst our healthcare workers. Dr. Bizzell’s influence encourages readers to embrace positive behavioral changes in their own lives as well as in the world around them. Dr. Bizzell has more than 25 years of combined clinical, research, health services, policy and management experiences with private and public organizations and agencies within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), including the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Previously, Dr. Bizzell served as a medical officer for the SAMHSA Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) Division of Pharmacologic Therapies as well as the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism within the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Bizzell led efforts in the area of prescription drug use, misuse and abuse for the agency, which includes collaborating with other federal agencies such as NIH, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and other federal, national, state and professional organizations.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) selected Dr. Bizzell as Maryland’s Small Business Person of the Year for 2020. Dr. Bizzell serves on several boards including the Maryland Board for the March of Dimes and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., where he serves as the President of the Delta Lambda Chapter in Baltimore, Maryland. In June 2020, Dr. Bizzell was appointed to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Advisory Board which advises the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation leadership on strengthening America’s long-term competitiveness and educating the public on the conditions necessary for business and communities to thrive, how business positively impacts communities, and emerging issues and creative solutions that will shape the future.

Previously, Dr. Bizzell served on the SAMHSA Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) National Advisory Council (NAC), the Coalition on Physician Education in Substance Abuse (COPE), the National Football League’s Substance Abuse Committee, the March of Dimes-Maryland Board, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington-Prince Georges County Region and several positions for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., including the National Chair for the Medical Advisory Board, the Health and Wellness Committee, and the Alpha American Cancer Society Initiative.

He received his B.A in biology from the University of Virginia, his M.D. from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, and his postgraduate training in family medicine from Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
